Midjourney v7 is the model with taste. Out-of-the-box aesthetic quality remains best-in-class - give it a generic prompt and you'll get something framed, lit, and color-graded better than competitors.
The trade: less prompt fidelity than Imagen, and no public API. You're working through Discord or the web app, which slots awkwardly into automated pipelines.
v7 introduced Personalize, which adapts the model's aesthetic baseline to your taste over time. For art directors this is genuinely useful; for technical pipelines it's irrelevant.
Verdict: still the best for one-shot aesthetic output. 8.9/10.
